Just wanted to say...

Sorry for not posting more comments but I have had some hiccups with the Scrub Stitchin blog site. Sometimes it allows me in, like now, other times it says "no no no don't let that girl in whatever you do". It's those gremlins.
What I wanted to say is that I am excited and I think all the raffle blocks are looking stupendous.
Toodle loo for now and now comes the crunch.
Will this go anywhere? one can only try?

Here is my contribution to the Block Lotto.  I've had them stitched for quite a while but have been rather slow to get them posted here.

I'm really enjoying seeing the variety of blocks.

Block Lotto from Diane

After finally getting back into 'blog land' I felt inspired to get these blocks happening.

I'm used to burgundies and greens so you can imagine how hard it was to use the bright fabrics in the 'bright block. They came from my stash of 'brights' which I intend using for Kathy Doherty's wedge quilt - but they are so far out of my comfort zone that the stash seems to get bigger but I don't get any closer to starting the quilt!

The light in the blue is a little creamier than it looks in the photo

Feeling a little excited right now!!!

Diane.

50 DAYS AND COUNTING....

With only 50 sleeps till we all make the trek to our little sewing oasis in the scrub.

I though it was time to start making and checking off the lists of what to bring.

I will continue to update as the days countdown.

o  Scrubbers Block lotto -  Two 12.5 in blocks ( 1 x white and bright, 1 x creamy classic)
  • hope you are all going to give this one ago.... I am loving the samples so far, and for me this was a perfect opportunity to play with the sawtooth star pattern, I am wanting to make a quilt with this block, and having the opportunity to make both versions was wonderful. I have used this template which is great tool for sizing this block and it was from this tutorial, and I whipped up both in under an hour.

CREAMY CLASSIC.... SORRY PHOTO ISN'T TRUE COLOUR

WHITE AND BRIGHT

Hey Scrubbers.................yes we will do a little swap....................

We will just "Make It" or "Fake It" this time................
So for those newbies I am sure you are saying what the hell is this..............
Image result for little present
Its a little swap............

"Make It" - make a small gift to randomly swap................
OR
"Fake It" - buy a small gift max $15 to swap...........

Its easy this way everyone can join in no matter how busy we are..........no time to make something then fake it...............

I've run a swap like this for many years at many blog/sewing meet ups and it works very well...............
Everyone joins in and lovely gifts are swapped..............

Catch you later..............

Scrubbers Block lotto.....

Hi Scrubbers.............
yes the silence here has been deadly but i'm back to annoy you all with some more information...........Sonia and I both are a little out of control and have been for a few months in our lives......we apologise for our absence but it's lucky we got most things organised early on......so do not fear things are in control..........but i hatched this hair brain idea a few weeks ago over a glass of champagne with Miss Kylie..........
All you need to do is make 2 blocks
can be the same block but two different colourways are needed to enter the draw for block lotto........
photo not doing best justice might try to get another one today.......
Colour way one  white and bright
can be plain white or a white on white tonal background but bright fabrics in the block.............

here is a better pic of my bright colours..............
The other colourway is Creamy classic I added another photo below to get a better idea...........truer colours..........
cream or cream tonal like I used and country/reproduction type colours............
any of you making Lucy Bostons..........think those colours.............
found this photo on the net to give you an idea of the colour palette............
it does not need to be the prints below but to fit in with them..........although on looking I think I have heaps of these prints below..........woops.........
Image result for reproduction fabrics
BLOCK DETAILS
the blocks need to be 12.5in unfinished (12in finished - ie once sewn into a quilt)
you can make what ever block you want.......easy or hard it is up to you.........
Only took me about an hour to make both the blocks above and that was also choosing fabrics...........

Just google 12in blocks or go to these links............

SO WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE BLOCKS...........
well one person is drawn out as the winner.............
the winner gets to choose which pile of blocks they want to keep..........
white and bright or creamy classic...........
make up your own quilt to keep as a memory from the weekend.......

SO WHAT HAPPENS TO THE OTHER PILE OF BLOCKS I HEAR YOU ASKING............
the other pile will be made into a quilt which will go to a needy cause/fundraiser/charity to be determined at a later date......

To enter the draw you need to make one bock in each colourway............
make two sets in both colourways you get two entries........
I really enjoyed this so think I am going to make another set with a another pattern........thinking churn dash for the creamy classic and I saw a funky arrow block I might try for the bright one..........

BUT if everyone did this......
if we got 36blocks (6x6) blocks we could make a quilt at least 72in square which is not a bad size
if we got 42 blocks (6x7)
we could make a quilt 72x84in
the bigger the better..........

(randon pile of blocks stolen from internet)
So what do you think?
Are you heading off to make some blocks now???
