Sunday - Packing

So this time next week, I will be packing with exhaustion, and sadly heading home.
But I know that my heart will be happy, and my memory bank full to keep me going till we next meet again. Did I say again.... let's hope 2020 sees us gather again...
I love my tribe, you make my heart sing and I know that
When we are together.

Looking forward to catching up with you all in just 3/4/5 sleeps

Just some housekeeping as I pack the kits into boxes today.

Please remember this weekend is all about enjoying yourself.

I have tried to make it as simple as possible, you will have what you need to create.

It would help you if you wish to work on the kit supplied, to bring along Embroidery Threads, hoop, needles, and your basic sewing kit - I am sure you are all packing that and then some.

see you soon.

PS - I will have my pop up shop with supplies and also if I can fit it in a few Forever Always Items... if there is anything that you would like specifically please message me today so I can add it to my growing car packing pile.

I'm sad..but happy too

I am SAD because I am unable to come to Barradine this year
But I am HAPPY because I am attending my 37 year old daughter's Graduation Ceremony in Toowomba on the same Friday.
Have fun ladies...I will be thinking of you.
Julie Sullivan (Jewells)

Hello from New Zealand

HI everyone - I'm Raewyn from stitchingfarmgirl in New Zealand and I am also counting down the sleeps until Scrub Stitching - cant wait to meet you all and have a laugh or two - oh and do some sewing too :-)
Chooky told me it was ok to post the following —
I'm guessing most of you know about the terror attack that happened in Christchurch recently.
And some of you may be aware that people (from around the world) are busy making heart blocks to make into quilts for the victims' families, the survivors and the first responders.
You can read about it *here*.
I had the idea that it would be cool to ask if any of the retreat group would like to make a block (or two) and if there was a wee pile of them, I could piece a top while I am there.
Chooky said there is no block swap this year so some of you may be interested in making the odd heart block instead. (You could make it beforehand or while you're there.)

No pressure, no expectations. If it happens, it happens.

The blocks are 6½" unfinished size and can be pieced or appliqued. I would like GREEN ones please. However I will gather other colours if they're made and will send them off when I get home.
Please check *this link* for the details.
To give you an idea, here is the start I have made.

I'm trying to clear the spare bed so I can start my Scrub Stitching pile!! See you all soon!!!

A big Bit Sad

It's with much sadness that I have to say I can't make it to Scrub Stitchin next year. Its just a bad time for me.  It's my 60th and Bernie and I are going on a trip. I will miss you all and it was a very hard decision to make. I will be stalking this blog page though. I hope to get back on the list the next year.

A finish and a deposit

Just wanted to say that the latest instalment has been deposited, although it might take a day or so.

Back in June some of us went on a retreat to Glenrose in Warwick and I finished my bag. Okay so it has taken me a little while to post but here’s the proof.

"My" Zippered Bags

As you all saw me making my "zippered bags" on the retreat, I thought I would show you what I have been playing with the last couple of days.

My grand daughter is going to Japan with the school later in the year and I thought I would make some "Australian" gifts for her to take for her host family. I looked everywhere for a cute koala, but didn't find one that was just "right"...so I designed one myself...first time I have every done that!...quiet pleased with the outcome. I wasn't sure if he looked better with or without a mouth...I asked a few people and more said WITH the mouth.....

...I'm still not sure...I "think" I like him without a mouth.
Here is the final article..a lined zippered bag.. now it is up to my grand daughter if she likes it.
See you next year!

Wed/Thursday @ Scrub Stitchin'

Setting up...........
I took the day off before SS and headed off to Camp Cypress @ Baradine............
Met up with Sonia @ Forever Always Online to finish putting the kits together and set up the room..............
Bianca - Sonia's daughter was also there to assist and Kylie @ Indigo and Quince had other commitments that meant she arrived early too............both assisted wonderfully to turn an empty room into a beautiful sewing space for the weekend.............
Just as all the work was done Sally and Diane @ The Sloan Patch arrived..........
One long table for meals and three sewing spaces set up...............
we were not sure how this was going to happen prior but this setup worked so well we have set a maximum number of 36 for next year..........
Love this pic of Diddles under the tables...........
the grounds at Camp Cypress are located at the local Show Ground
Its a beautiful area..............lots of shade from white cypress pine trees.........
escaped from the real world.............
nibbles and drinks every afternoon...........
people just floated as they wished between sewing and eating..........this plan I had in my head worked perfectly..............the room worked just as I had hoped...........everyone came down for breaky and stayed until bedtime unless you needed a loo break or a nanna nap...........
lots of times to sew, talk, eat, socialise...........
lots of happy faces.............
Otherside of the table Diane, Annette, Miss Jules, Cheryl, Kath........

Peg, Jenny, Janice, Sophie, Harriet, Georgia, Tina, Kate, Sally, Maureen....
and the newbies just slotted in perfectly..........

Sonia, Bianca, Chookyblue
more to come............
Chooky, Mary, Lynda, Diane.......
Catch you later....... Chookyblue.........

The Project 2018...........

Just posting some of my posts from my blog on here. I'm behind still but nearly done and will keep adding my blog posts to here so all the pics are on Scrub Stitchin' too. If anyone else had any pics they want to share on here please do a post............

This post is so over due........but now I can finally reveal..............these plans and projects were all planned mostly in May last year...........hence the date on the bags.........

These star mugs were perfect.............Baradine is in the Warrumbungle Shire .....the Warrumbungles National Park which is very close by......it is the only dark sky park in Australia.............Siding Springs Observatory on the edge of the Warrumbungles is very important to astronomers..............
so stars around here are even brighter due to the lower light pollution levels..........
The mugs looked so good in the dishwasher when we gave them a wash...........

Onto the project..............
ta da............
Scrub Stitchin' Bucket Tote designed by Sonia and me.............

Baradine is in the Pilliga Scrub............its got a lot of White Cypress pine hence the pine trees..............the star is the sky.......and there are heaps of birds......

Sonia and I had so much fun planning the projects and weekend..........then the photo shoot with our bags...........

love it.............

Maybe a champagne or two was consumed in the planning.............

White & Bright Blocks

Well, the blocks have gone from this:
to this:
I sashed them together, added a border, quilted it, sewed the binding on the front and now it is ready to go to Chooky/Miss Jules to hand sew the binding on to the back.

It ended up being 76" x 89"...a nice BIG quilt.

I'll let Chooky unveil the finished quilt when it is completed.

Chooky and her Chook blocks

Sadly, my video of Chooky getting her blocks was bad...very bad...I didn't think to wonder about the quality before I organised this - and it is only part of what Janice recorded for me - never mind - those of us who were there will remember it anyway.
